How to get help

Obtain a referral from an authorized medical or community source and use the official housing-application pathway. A complete application may be approved for up to 90 days depending on availability. After vacating for one month, a guest may reapply for another stay. Referral and application do not guarantee acceptance or an available suite.

Who this service helps

Patients must be receiving treatment for a life-threatening or critical illness and must stay with a primary caregiver age 18 or older. There is no patient age restriction. A referral is required from a hospital or medical facility, physician, social worker, or service or community-outreach organization.

The Ballard House provides 40 suites along with community kitchens, laundry facilities and supplies, living and dining rooms, a chapel, library, game room, outdoor spaces, and in-room kitchenettes for patients and caregivers traveling for medical treatment.
