How to get help
Submit the official apartment application. Applicants are added to a waitlist and should receive email confirmation within two days. The site reports that waits may be one to three months and encourages applicants to join other housing waitlists. Contact Halo House to update an existing application rather than submitting another one.
Who this service helps
Applicants must receive active treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, or another blood cancer at least weekly in the Texas Medical Center; live more than 50 miles from the center; show that market-rate furnished lodging would cause significant hardship if requested; and have a caregiver living with them at all times. Stem-cell transplant patients may qualify from more than 25 miles away with a physician order requiring residence within 20 minutes of the hospital.

Cost / fees
One-bedroom apartment: $25 per day; two-bedroom apartment: $35 per day. A nonrefundable $85 cleaning fee and $100 security deposit are due at move-in. Minimum stay is two weeks and maximum stay is three months, with a possible fourth month after an allogeneic stem-cell transplant and supporting letter.
