How to get help
Submit the online housing application. The applicant is added to a waiting list and contacted if housing is available for the requested dates. A phone interview and background check are required before check-in. A specific house cannot be guaranteed.
Who this service helps
Adult or child patients must be in active treatment at the Texas Medical Center and live more than 60 miles from Houston. A caregiver age 21 or older is required, although radiation patients may stay without a caregiver on a case-by-case basis. Homes are not ADA accessible and pets are not allowed.

Cost / fees
$30-$35 per night, depending on house size, plus a one-time refundable security deposit of $350-$500 and a $150 cleaning fee. Minimum stay is two weeks and maximum stay is three months.

Houston Haven offers thirteen furnished homes within five miles of the Texas Medical Center and seven garage apartments for former families returning for follow-up appointments. Homes include kitchens, laundry, utilities, Wi-Fi, linens, and household necessities; the organization also provides community support such as weekly meals and special experiences.
