How to get help
First try the TJJD grievance process when appropriate. If the problem remains unresolved or a youth's health, safety, welfare, or rights may be affected, contact the Independent Ombudsman by phone, email, or mail and provide the youth, facility, issue, dates, and prior grievance details.

Children committed to TJJD and people raising concerns about their health, safety, welfare, or rights. Criminal allegations use a separate reporting route.

The Independent Ombudsman investigates non-criminal complaints when a child may need assistance, advocates with agencies or providers in the child's best interests, inspects placement facilities, and evaluates whether children's rights are observed.
