How to get help
Use the official online Request for Service when the portal is open. The process includes eligibility notification, an admissions interview, review-board assessment, and enrollment for selected applicants. The official Get Help page reviewed on 2026-09-10 states that the current cohort is fully enrolled through December and the portal will reopen January 3, 2027.
Who this service helps
Applicants must be struggling to pay rent and/or utilities, have at least one parent in the household physically and legally able to work, have no alcohol or drug dependency or domestic-violence issues, be the legal guardian of at least one child enrolled in PreK through 12th grade, and agree to the self-sufficiency program. The program cannot assist households already participating in Section 8, public housing, or another rental-assistance program.

HandUp begins with housing stabilization and continues through coaching and launch phases.
