How to get help
A referral must come through the Coalition for the Homeless, the Harris Center PATH program, or another Harris Center program located at 6160 South Loop East Freeway. Call 713-970-7000 for current referral information; the reviewed page does not publish a self-referral option.

Adults age 18 or older who are experiencing homelessness and a behavioral illness, are discharged from an eligible Harris Center program, and are preparing to live independently in the community.

Independent Living is a voluntary, 24-bed program providing secure furnished single-room-occupancy space for up to an estimated 365 days. Services include individualized entry and exit planning, care coordination, psychiatric-technician support, substance-use groups, and benefits application assistance.
