Call the Homeless Crisis Helpline and select option 3 or complete the official online assessment. Family Gateway first assesses and explores diversion; shelter placement depends on need and availability.

Adults age 18 or older with at least one child under 18 in their care and custody who are homeless or facing homelessness within 72 hours and currently reside in Dallas or Collin County. The official page states resources are not available for migrant, refugee, or asylee families.

About this service
Family Gateway operates emergency shelter for single-parent, two-parent, multigenerational, and other families with children. When shelter cannot be avoided, staff triage families to an appropriate shelter and may use hotel placement when shelters are full.
