How to get help
Mail a legible request for specific documents to the Inmate Copy Service or use Ask a Librarian. For court records, provide the inmate's full name and aliases, conviction date and county, appeal number, and complete mailing address. Wait for the cost estimate and do not send payment before receiving it.
Who this service helps
A Texas inmate or person requesting on an inmate's behalf for eligible records or materials. Court-record service is limited to records held by the Texas Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals, or Third Court of Appeals for criminal matters.

Service area: People incarcerated in Texas who need eligible court records or legal materials, including people convicted in or connected to the Central Texas counties.

Cost / fees
Physical copies cost $0.25 per page plus 8.25% sales tax, a service charge generally starting at $5, and postage when applicable. Digital court files cost $5 per file, with additional USB, tax, or postage charges when applicable. Free copies are not available based on indigence.
About this service
The State Law Library can temporarily obtain and copy qualifying records held by specified Texas appellate courts and can copy cited statutes, rules, regulations, case law, and selected library excerpts not available through the inmate's unit library.
