How to get help
Submit the online County Jail Complaints and Inquiries Form or mail a detailed letter to the Executive Director. Telephone complaints are acknowledged, but the complainant will be asked to document the matter in writing. Contact TCJS after more than 30 days to request status information.
Who this service helps
People with concerns involving an inmate in a Texas county jail or a private correctional facility that houses county or out-of-state inmates. TDCJ prisons, city jails, juvenile facilities, and other private facilities are outside TCJS jurisdiction.

About this service
TCJS logs complaints within its jurisdiction and assigns them to a complaint inspector. Depending on the issue, the inspector may contact or visit the facility, provide a written result, and allow an appeal to the assistant director.
