How to get help
Complete the applicable online application for small businesses, social enterprises, and artists or for nonprofit organizations and community groups. Selected applicants are contacted for an interview and receive a retainer agreement. Applications are accepted year-round; most new clients are accepted one to three months before fall or spring terms.
Who this service helps
Texas nonprofits and community groups must principally serve low-income persons or communities and be unable to afford legal assistance without harming their charitable work. Small-business and social-enterprise applicants are screened under published owner household-income ranges, must lack significant outside investor funding, and new startups must have a business plan. Selection also depends on staffing and teaching fit.
